Adventures in Animation

Course Overview:

Explore the wide world of stop-motion animation!

Children utilize various materials to build props, characters, and fantastical mini-movie sets to feature in original stop-motion animation films. They experiment with combining live action with animation and effects like drawing on each frame and utilizing green screens and stock footage. Children learn to create their own sounds and special effects to add to their shorts as they work in post-production to finish their animated shorts. Kids will explore stop-motion and digital animation techniques and create 2D and 3D projects.

Please Note: This course is nonrefundable after 08/19/2024.

Program Schedule:

  • Students have a supervised snack period in the HCCS cafeteria from 2:20pm to 2:45pm.
  • Instructional sessions are scheduled from 2:45pm to 4:00pm, followed by a brief transition period for students from 4:00pm to 4:15pm.
  • After classes and transitioning, students can participate in various engaging after-school activities from 4:15pm to 5:30pm.
  • Options include joining student clubs, studying in the HCES library (for grades 2-6) or attending storytelling sessions (for grades K-1), and having free play in the cafeteria or courtyard. [Details about these activities, including club descriptions, schedules, and sign-up information, will be shared during the first week of school.]
