Jazzy Jitterbugs Dance

Course Overview:

In this fun-filled class, young dancers will learn basic dance techniques and groovy moves while exploring different dance styles such as jazz, hip-hop, and ballet. Led by experienced instructors, the Jazzy Jitterbugs program aims to foster a love for dance and music in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students will develop coordination, rhythm, and confidence through engaging activities and games as they boogie to their favorite tunes. The Jazzy Jitterbugs curriculum is tailored to suit young learners' energy and attention span, ensuring that each class is educational and entertaining.

Sample Lessons:

  • Jazz and Hip-Hop Fusion: Introduces essential jazz and hip-hop moves, including a "Freeze Dance" game.

  • Ballet Basics: Teaches fundamental ballet positions and movements and features a "Ballet Obstacle Course" game.

  • Rhythm and Coordination: Develops rhythm and coordination through exercises and a "Move to the Beat" game.

  • Performance Preparation: This class prepares students for a mini-performance with a routine combining jazz, hip-hop, and ballet, including a "Dance Relay" game.

Please Note: This course is nonrefundable after 09/04/2024.

Program Schedule:

  • Students have a supervised snack period in the HCCS cafeteria from 2:20pm to 2:45pm.
  • Instructional sessions are scheduled from 2:45pm to 4:00pm, followed by a brief transition period for students from 4:00pm to 4:15pm.
  • After classes and transitioning, students can participate in various engaging after-school activities from 4:15pm to 5:30pm.
  • Options include joining student clubs, studying in the HCES library (for grades 2-6) or attending storytelling sessions (for grades K-1), and having free play in the cafeteria or courtyard. [Details about these activities, including club descriptions, schedules, and sign-up information, will be shared during the first week of school.]
