Course Overview:

In this class, young builders will have the opportunity to unleash their creativity and explore the fundamentals of architecture using LEGO bricks. During the class, students will learn about basic architectural concepts such as symmetry, balance, and structure, all while having fun constructing their own miniature buildings, bridges, and landmarks. Through hands-on activities and guided instruction, children will develop spatial awareness, problem-solving skills, and an appreciation for design. Whether they dream of becoming future architects or love building with LEGO bricks, this class will inspire and challenge students to think outside the box and create their architectural masterpieces. 

Impact on Educational and Personal Growth:

Participating in the Lego Architecture class benefits educational growth by teaching architectural principles and enhancing STEM understanding. Through hands-on activities, it also fosters spatial reasoning, critical thinking, and fine motor skills. On a personal level, the class promotes creativity, self-expression, confidence, teamwork, and communication skills. The holistic development approach intertwines play with education, nurturing a love for learning, imagination, and innovation.

Please Note: This course is nonrefundable after 09/04/2024.

Program Schedule:

  • Students have a supervised snack period in the HCCS cafeteria from 2:20pm to 2:45pm.
  • Instructional sessions are scheduled from 2:45pm to 4:00pm, followed by a brief transition period for students from 4:00pm to 4:15pm.
  • After classes and transitioning, students can participate in various engaging after-school activities from 4:15pm to 5:30pm.
  • Options include joining student clubs, studying in the HCES library (for grades 2-6) or attending storytelling sessions (for grades K-1), and having free play in the cafeteria or courtyard. [Details about these activities, including club descriptions, schedules, and sign-up information, will be shared during the first week of school.]
