Course Overview:

In this class, young actors can explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop their acting skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. Throughout the course, students will learn the fundamentals of acting, including improvisation, character development, stage presence, and script analysis. They will work on building their communication skills, teamwork, and emotional expression through fun and interactive activities. Whether they dream of being on stage or want to have fun exploring their creativity, this class is perfect for aspiring young actors of all levels. Our experienced instructor is dedicated to nurturing each student's unique talents and helping them grow into confident and expressive young actors.

Participating in the Young Actors Studio improves communication skills through acting exercises, fostering clearer expression in academic and social settings. Sample Lessons:

  • Introduction to Improvisation: Encourages quick and creative thinking through "Yes, And" games.

  • Character Development Workshop: Teaches students how to create and embody unique characters using favorite stories.

  • Script Analysis and Performance: Introduces reading and interpreting scripts through scene analysis and performance.

  • Stage Presence and Voice Projection: Helps students become more confident on stage by practicing voice projection, body language, and movement.

Please Note: This course is nonrefundable after 09/04/2024.

Program Schedule:

  • Students have a supervised snack period in the HCCS cafeteria from 2:20pm to 2:45pm.
  • Instructional sessions are scheduled from 2:45pm to 4:00pm, followed by a brief transition period for students from 4:00pm to 4:15pm.
  • After classes and transitioning, students can participate in various engaging after-school activities from 4:15pm to 5:30pm.
  • Options include joining student clubs, studying in the HCES library (for grades 2-6) or attending storytelling sessions (for grades K-1), and having free play in the cafeteria or courtyard. [Details about these activities, including club descriptions, schedules, and sign-up information, will be shared during the first week of school.]
