Course Overview:

Elevate your chess skills and boost your team's rating by 1000 points with our comprehensive course! Designed specifically for students actively participating in chess tournaments, this course covers the fundamentals of the game while honing concentration and strategic thinking. Participants will develop rapid decision-making abilities, learn to evaluate various alternatives, and explore multiple winning strategies through guided instruction and practical gameplay against diverse opponents.

Students will enhance their concentration and analytical thinking, skills that are transferable to any educational pursuit. Please Note: This course is nonrefundable after 02/14/2025.

Program Schedule:

  • Students have a supervised snack period in the HCCS cafeteria from 2:20pm to 2:45pm.
  • Instructional sessions are scheduled from 2:45pm to 4:00pm, followed by a brief transition period for students from 4:00pm to 4:15pm.
  • After classes and transitioning, students can participate in various engaging after-school activities from 4:15pm to 5:30pm.
  • Options include joining student clubs, studying in the HCES library (for grades 2-6) or attending storytelling sessions (for grades K-1), and having free play in the cafeteria or courtyard.
