Course Overview:

Combine logic and creativity to bring objects to life by merging computer programming and animation!

Using MIT’s Scratch 3.0 computer language, students create code that energizes their favorite superheroes, advances animated sprites through multi-level video games, and powers music videos with each student as the star! But the fun and learning does not end there. Kids explore claymation, pixilation, and other stop-motion techniques to create imaginative and entertaining videos with their peers. Previous coding experience is not required.

 

Please Note: This course is nonrefundable after 01/15/2025.

Program Schedule:

  • Students have a supervised snack period in the HCCS cafeteria from 2:20pm to 2:45pm.
  • Instructional sessions are scheduled from 2:45pm to 4:00pm, followed by a brief transition period for students from 4:00pm to 4:15pm.
  • After classes and transitioning, students can participate in various engaging after-school activities from 4:15pm to 5:30pm.
  • Options include joining student clubs, studying in the HCES library (for grades 2-6) or attending storytelling sessions (for grades K-1), and having free play in the cafeteria or courtyard. [Details about these activities, including club descriptions, schedules, and sign-up information, will be shared during the first week of school.]
