Leadership, Public Speaking and Debate

Course Overview:

In this class, students learn to use logic and other rhetorical tools to support their positions and express themselves succinctly and skillfully. They also learn to walk and talk with assurance and purpose, overcome jitters, participate in debates, and deliver speeches with confidence and animation!

Program Schedule:

  • Students have a supervised snack period in the HCCS cafeteria from 2:20pm to 2:45pm.
  • Instructional sessions are scheduled from 2:45pm to 4:00pm, followed by a brief transition period for students from 4:00pm to 4:15pm.
  • After classes and transitioning, students can participate in various engaging after-school activities from 4:15pm to 5:30pm.
  • Options include joining student clubs, studying in the HCES library (for grades 2-6) or attending storytelling sessions (for grades K-1), and having free play in the cafeteria or courtyard.
