Course Overview:

Welcome to “Page Turners: A Journey Through Books,” a delightful book club class tailored for students in grades 4-6. In this engaging course, young readers will immerse themselves in various genres, uncovering the enchantment of storytelling and the joy of reading. Each session focuses on a different book or specific chapters from longer texts, prompting students to explore themes, characters, and settings in an interactive and thoughtful way. Through vibrant discussions, creative projects, and engaging activities, participants will enhance their reading comprehension, critical thinking, and communication skills. This class aims to ignite a passion for literature, fostering a community of young book lovers eager to share their thoughts and insights.

Program Schedule:

  • Students have a supervised snack period in the HCCS cafeteria from 2:20pm to 2:45pm.
  • Instructional sessions are scheduled from 2:45pm to 4:00pm, followed by a brief transition period for students from 4:00pm to 4:15pm.
  • After classes and transitioning, students can participate in various engaging after-school activities from 4:15pm to 5:30pm.
  • Options include joining student clubs, studying in the HCES library (for grades 2-6) or attending storytelling sessions (for grades K-1), and having free play in the cafeteria or courtyard.
