Spring into Botany: The Magic of Plants & Growth
Provided by Hawk's Nest Science Teacher, Ms. Coleman
As the season turns to spring, it's the perfect time for students to explore the fascinating world of plant growth and gardening. This hands-on course will guide students through the science behind photosynthesis, pollination, and the life cycle of plants. Each student will start their own garden project, planting seeds and observing how they grow into mature plants over the course of the semester. Students will also learn about soil composition, watering needs, and how to make their own compost.
Alongside planting, students will explore different types of plants (e.g., flowers, vegetables, herbs), their adaptations to different environments, and how weather patterns and climate affect plant growth. The course will also include a focus on environmental sustainability, teaching students how to make eco-friendly choices, such as using recycled materials in gardening or growing their own food at home.
